Powerhouse was established in 2008 with a mission to “prepare and equip individuals for economic and life challenging situations as it relates to their personal growth and development.” Since its inception, Powerhouse has focused on providing relevant programs and services that positively impact the social, economic, and health- related needs of residents in Central Missouri. In keeping with its mission, Powerhouse has implemented programs focusing on positive youth development, strengthening families, responsible fatherhood, transportation, food insecurity, mental and behavioral health, substance use disorder and treatment, community development, and access to care.

Forward Motion reaches out to single moms with unconditional love and support. Build relationships in an atmosphere of HOPE as you laugh, learn and pray together. This group of single moms comes together every Tuesday evening to have dinner (prepared by volunteers), join in bible study and live in community together.  Forward Motion organizers offer free childcare during the group’s regular meetings.

This group meets from 6-8pm each Tuesday while school is in session.

Families within the attendance boundaries of Columbia Public Schools with children from prenatal to kindergarten entry

Parents as Teachers provides personal visits to families within the Columbia Public School district who have children from prenatal to kindergarten entry.  Visits are conducted by educators with special training in early childhood development and parenting support. Families can expect conversations about child development, parenting topics, and family wellbeing as well as a fun parent and child activity and a book to share at each visit. Families can expect annual child development screenings and connection to community resources. Parents as Teachers also hosts large group events like Messy Night and small classes like Infant Massage.

Cedar Creek was founded in 1988 and provides comprehensive equine assisted therapy to more than 150 individuals per year. Each Spring, Summer and Fall, hundreds of community members come to Cedar Creek to volunteer their time to be part of the therapy team. All classes include instructors that are certified by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH).

Wonderland Camp provides camp sessions for children, teens, and adults with disabilities

We are an overnight camp for children, teens, and adults with disabilities. We offer 11 weeks of summer camp and weekend camps throughout the remaining months of the year. Our campers enjoy swimming, boat rides, arts and crafts, archery, challenge elements like rock climbing, dances, BB guns, and so much more. Our actiities are adaptable. Children can come to camp as young as 6 years old and we never age out.

Mid-Missouri Legal Services provides free legal services to low-income individuals in cases involving family law, orders of protection, landlord/tenant matters, expungements, public benefits, bankruptcies, consumer matters, wills, healthcare and financial powers of attorney. Services provided by MMLS range from legal advice, brief services, extended representation in court and administrative hearings.

We serve people incarcerated in the Boone County Jail, who are Boone County residents, and who cannot afford to pay bail of $3000 or less or to hire a for-profit bail bond agent.

We are all volunteers and operate with very low administrative costs. We support ourselves with community donations and bail refunds from the court. Volunteers answer the phones, drive to the jail to bail people out, remind people of their court dates, offer rides to court, raise funds, and engage in community education to inform people about the bail system.
