We are all volunteers and operate with very low administrative costs. We support ourselves with community donations and bail refunds from the court. Volunteers answer the phones, drive to the jail to bail people out, remind people of their court dates, offer rides to court, raise funds, and engage in community education to inform people about the bail system.
We serve people incarcerated in the Boone County Jail, who are Boone County residents, and who cannot afford to pay bail of $3000 or less or to hire a for-profit bail bond agent. We do not ask about income, but we know that nearly 100% of our clients qualify for public defenders. About 20% are unsheltered.
