Financial Coaching

Love Columbia helps people understand and manage their finances. Raise your awareness about your income and expenses and get started with a budget. Go from there to create a spending plan, start saving, and reduce debt.

Financial coaching may include:

  • Basic budgeting: Create a budget, track income and expenses, and develop a spending plan.

  • Credit score building: Learn your credit score and create a plan to increase your score with helpful techniques and practices.

  • Extra Mile: Learn money management through a 16-week program with a coach that offers accountability partnership, financial rewards, and the opportunity to practice new financial skills. Some participants are eligible for a no-interest loan to retire a high interest payday or title loan.

  • VITA (seasonally): tax preparation assistance

  • Assistance with form completion

  • The Love Savings Program: Income-eligible households (under 200% of the poverty level) can receive $3 for every dollar the participant saves. These savings can be used toward purchasing a home, making home repairs, paying for educational expenses or job training or investing in a small business.
