Family Impact Center: Families Eating Smart and Moving More

Families Eating Smart and Moving More (FESMM) is a program designed to improve participants diets nutritionally, increase daily physical activity, and increase home food safety practices.

Subjects covered in the program include:
• Planning and preparing budget friendly, fast, and simple meals.
• How to make healthy food choices’
• Tips on how to stretch out your food dollars.
• Tricks on how to preserve foods more safely.
• Learn how to better understand food nutrition labels.
• Elevate you and your family’s health through nutrition and exercise.

Next class series at the Family Impact Center starts July 8 and ends August 12, 2025.  Classes will be held 9-10 am. Classes are free but require registration. For more information and registration of the July/August 2025 series, please contact NPA Emily Blaue.

MU Health Care Financial Assistance

  • You may set up a payment plan and may have up to 18 months to pay your bills, interest free.

  • You may be eligible for full or partial assistance. The amount of financial assistance you may qualify for is based on your income and/or the resources
    you have to help pay your bills.

Boone Health Financial Assistance

Patients who meet certain income guidelines may qualify for financial assistance. Eligibility for assistance is based upon total gross income (how much you make before taxes) and the number of dependents (usually spouse and children) in your family. Patients who have special circumstances may receive further consideration. Eligible patients will not be charged more than patients who have insurance. You may apply for financial assistance up to 240 days after you receive your first bill.

Rental Conditions and Tenant Complaint Form -Boone County Residents

For individuals that cannot file a rental conditions and tenant complaint form through the Office of Neighborhood Services because they live outside of city limits, they can complete a Rental Housing Standards Complaint Form through Boone County Resource Management. Note that individuals need to be current on rent to be considered. It also needs to be notarized. Other regulations are outlined in the attached document, Rental Regulations.

Finding a Primary Care Provider

Steps to take:

· If you have health insurance, call the number on the back of your health insurance card and ask which primary care providers are covered. Call one of those providers and ask for a new patient appointment. 

· If you do not have health insurance, contact one of the clinics below and ask for a new patient appointment. These clinics will help you apply for Medicaid.
