Housing & Neighborhood Services - Columbia City Council
The City of Columbia is excited to announce the launch of a new Home Weatherization Grant Program to help residents maximize energy savings and increase the value of their homes. The Grant Program provides grants of up to $5,000 to low- to moderate-income home-owners that can be used for insulation upgrades thereby producing savings in energy consumption and utility bills and improving the home’s health, safety and comfort. The full cost of the upgrades will be paid for by the City, with no cost to the resident.

Doula Services covered by MO Medicaid

Effective for dates of service beginning October 1, 2024, doula services are available to all pregnant women, prenatally, during delivery, and throughout the 12-month postpartum period as a preventive service recommended by a licensed practitioner of the healing arts. “SuN Bucks” for Kids

Missouri SuN Bucks helps families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer months when school is not in session. Families will get a one-time $120 benefit per qualifying child that can be used to buy nutritious foods at authorized locations around Missouri.

Most eligible children will receive the benefit automatically and do not need to apply; however, households who need to apply can submit the application online by August 31, 2024. Families can use the Missouri SuN Bucks Eligibility Navigator to see if they need to complete an application. 

Families with children who meet the criteria will receive an EBT card by mail, or the benefit will be added to their existing EBT card.

CoMo Bike Co-Op

The CoMo Bike Co-op is a facility and program housed at the Armory Sports Center. The Co-op offers free repair services for adult-sized traditional bicycles. The free repair program is the Co-op’s primary function. In addition to offering free repair services, the co-op also sells refurbished bike shop quality adult bicycles. Fully operating, refurbished bicycles are offered at significantly reduced rates to those found at local resale venues. Bicycles offered for sale are displayed on Mondays from 2 - 6 p.m. Proceeds support the free repair program.

Everyone is welcome. Our target demographic is underserved adults with transportation needs for work, school and the essential tasks of everyday living. Co-op services help community residents overcome economic barriers to owning a bicycle.
