At the MU Family Impact Center, we aim to provide lifelong education that will help our community’s residents improve their quality of life.
We welcome participants from anywhere in the mid-Missouri area.
We offer numerous programs in one place in order to bring the knowledge, research and resources from the University of Missouri into the community.
Our FREE programs cover a wide range of needs, including nutrition, tax assistance, family support, medical care and even summer camps that are geared towards youth excellence & college preparation.

WIC

The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) division provides income-based nutrition services to pregnant women, new mothers, babies, and children up to their 5th birthday. The WIC staff helps families eat well and stay healthy.

  • Risk assessments

  • Referrals to health care

Families that qualify for supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) or temporary assistance for needy families (TANF) automatically qualify.

CMCA - Foster Grandparents Program

At Central Missouri Community Action, you can mentor and guide students to higher academic achievement. The Foster Grandparent Program connects role models like you with students with exceptional needs.

Activities include but are not limited to:
Foster grandparents and children play games, talk, listen, read, and eat together.
Foster grandparents lend support to learning and therapy.
Activities between the foster grandparents and children are developed for a one-on-one relationship.

If eligible, volunteers may receive a stipend at the rate of $4.00 per hour. In addition….One hot, nutritious meal provided at most site locations. Transportation or mileage reimbursement. A physical exam. Accident and liability insurance. Orientation and in-service training program. Information and referral service. Annual recognition program.
