The Missouri DeafBlind Project strives to improve services, access, and results to youth who are deafblind and their families by strengthening collaborations among local, state, and national teams. We provide tailored consultations, and professional development through the student’s individual school or through our comprehensive in person and virtual trainings. Our efforts increase early identification and intervention, increase access to communication and the general education environments, facilitate family engagement, support successful transitions, and increase the number of highly qualified personnel. Technical assistance, training, support, and resources are available for families and service providers of individuals with vision and hearing differences (birth through 21 years of age) at no cost.

Jabberwocky is a fun, welcoming, inclusive place to learn, grow, and build community through our programs in dance, theater, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). Tuition waivers are available to anyone receiving school lunch assistance, and free transportation is available for most programs and classes. Learn more and register through our website. We also provide the Art Mobile, which will visit the Blind Boone Center, Bear Creek housing, Catherine Drive, and Flurry Drive every Saturday from April 11 to October 31, 2026, with a different free art project each week. No need to sign up for this, just show up!

C.A.R.E. Career Awareness Related Experience

The CARE summer program is an eight-week program which hires at-risk 14- to 20-year-olds who live in the City of Columbia, MO and/or attend a Columbia, MO school and places them at local businesses, where they gain much needed real-world hands-on work experience while getting paid $9 per hour for up to 20 hours per week. While traditional program trainees’ input is utilized, they do not directly choose their work site.
