Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture (CCUA) is a non-profit working in central Missouri out of two main locations: Columbia’s Agriculture Park and Mark and Carol Stevenson Veterans Urban Farm. Our vision is a community transformed by good food for all and the skills to grow it. We run a number of targeted programs to provide a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables directly to community members in need while supporting people of all ages with opportunities to develop lifelong skills in home gardening, agriculture, and cooking.
We have extensive programming aimed at serving as well as empowering our community:
- We offer free gardens through our Opportunity Gardens Program that empowers people to grow food for themselves by providing mentoring services and garden supplies. The program is free of charge to all low-income residents of Columbia, Missouri. Those interested can apply here.
- We offer an Apprenticeship open to all experience levels. It is an in-depth training at Columbia’s Agriculture Park that runs March through November. The program is offered free of charge and participants receive a certificate of completion through Lincoln University. Those interested can apply here.
- Our Veterans Urban Farm offers recreational therapy for Veterans as well as free produce giveaways at Truman VA Hospital (800 Hospital Drive) on Thursdays from 10am-12pm.
- And lastly, we are always welcoming new volunteers! Individuals or groups can volunteer with us at any of our three locations and choose to: work on a Garden shift, or lead activities at Columbia Farmers Market, or co-facilitate Field Trips, or staff a CCUA Event.
