A non-profit group of volunteers who work to provide bail for defendants who cannot afford it, so they can avoid incarceration while awaiting trial.
We answer calls from detainees at the Boone County Jail. If they qualify (Boone County resident, Boone County charges, $3000 or less total bail) we arrange to pay bail, transport home, and provide reminders about court dates. We monitor jail conditions. We provide public education on the processes of incarceration, bail, and court. As we identify problems, we post solutions.
Phones are answered 9am-5pm, M-F, if there’s enough volunteer coverage.
