1951 Crosley Pickup

Craig and Connie Leinicke

STORY: Our "Express Dairy Delivery" 1951 Crosley Pickup Truck - manufactured by the Crosley Corporation in Ohio (which still makes home appliances and other household items today!) - spent its early years delivering dairy products for a rural dairy in southern Arkansas from its bed, which was originally fitted with a wooden icebox to keep milk products cold.

Sometime in the 1960s, this tiny delivery truck unfortunately fell into disrepair and was replaced with a newer vehicle. When the dairy closed in the 1980s, it was sold at auction along with the dairy's other business assets.

In September 2006 we found the truck for sale online from a scrap dealer and learned its history.

Although the Crosley was a mere shell of its former self, we traveled to southern Arkansas to rescue and begin its transformation into a delivery truck with a race car "attitude." Over the next 2 years the Crosley was disassembled, media blasted, and received a complete body and mechanical restoration.

Since completion of its restoration, this sweet little truck has set land-speed records in its class with the East Coast Timing Association, has been class winner at 2 national auto shows, and was a featured vehicle at the Kemp Auto Museum in St. Louis.

We look forward to giving the youngest Love Columbia Howdy's Car Show attendees an opportunity to sit in the driver's seat of this 73-year-old treasure, spin its tiny front fan blade, and experience the fun this vehicle offers!
