Seniors Program and a Glaucoma Program

The Seniors Program connects eligible seniors 65 and older with local volunteer ophthalmologists who provide a medical eye exam often at no out-of-pocket cost, and up to one year of follow-up care for any condition diagnosed during the initial exam, for the physician services.
The Glaucoma Program provides a glaucoma eye exam at no cost to those who are eligible and uninsured.

Eye Care Assistance program is designed to cover the eye care costs of Missourians who fit the eligibility criteria. Some services that they may cover include: Visits to the eye doctor’s office, diagnostic testing, some laser treatments, minor eye care procedures, some surgical procedures. Call for an application.

Voluntary Action Center (VAC)

Voluntary Action Center is a local non profit responding to the basic needs of the individuals within our community. VAC services and eligibility flyer
- Household: Must be a Boone County Resident.
- Income: Gross monthly income for everyone living at the Address must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Information includes: employment income, unemployment, SNAP/food stamp benefits, TANF, child support, VA benefits, Social Security income.
- Demographic Information: Information about everyone in the household. Examples may include: Social Security number, birthdate, health insurance provider, contact information.
Services provided 9 am - 12 pm and 1 pm - 4 pm.
Walk-ins: M-T-Th-F.
Scheduled appointments - Wednesday. Call 573-874-2273 to schedule an appointment.
VAC encourages clients to call or visit our website for more information on receiving services during walk-in lobby hours and appointment days.

Residents of Missouri (adults & children) who are at or below the Federal Poverty Level and have a Social Security Administration verifiable disability.

Midwest Special Needs Trust Charitable Trust Program provides financial assistance grants to residents of Missouri who are at or below the Federal Poverty Level and have a Social Security Administration verifiable disability. The maximum grant award is $2000. Grants may be requested for medical and dental care, rehabilitative services or equipment, educational assistance, specialized transportation and other needs not covered by public benefits or available through other community programs.
