Yearly Car Maintenance Checklist

Regular car maintenance is an important step in prolonging the life of your car and minimizing costly repairs. Below is a checklist and timeline of recommended maintenance. If you are not able to perform these assessments yourself, it is recommended that you take it to be serviced professionally. Many shops do this basic service for free or for a low cost. It is better to pay for the small problems before they become a major expense.
Every Month:
Lights (headlight bulb, brake lights, turn signals, emergency flashers)
Check fluid levels (oil, brake, power steering, antifreeze/coolant, automatic transmission, windshield washer fluids)
Tires (tire pressure, no cuts puncture or bulging, tire tread, tire lug bolts)
Keep your vehicle clean inside and out (windows)
Every three months or 3,000 miles:
Engine air filter
Inspect battery
Change oil and filter
Belts (look for signs of cuts or wear)
Exhaust (look for cracks and holes in system)
Hoses (fastened tightly and show no signs of damage)
Every 6 months or 6,000 miles
Polish outside of vehicle
Wiper blades (clean)
Brakes (check for uneven wear)
Every 12 months or 12,000 miles
Air filter cabin (get cleaned)
Antifreeze/coolant- check-nothing
Spark Plugs (check)
Steering and Suspension
Brakes (replace)
Radiator flush
