Individuals often have questions about their health, illnesses or injuries, medications, symptoms they may be experiencing as well as a wide range of health and prevention topics. The following resources are available to anyone without charge and have been found helpful by others.

MedlinePlus This site provides a wealth of information. Specific information is available for:

  • Health Topics (health, wellness, disorders and conditions)

  • Drugs and Supplements (prescription drugs, over the counter medications, herbs and supplements)

  • Lab Tests (why you doctor orders different tests and what the results may mean)

  • Medical Encyclopedia (articles and images for diseases, symptoms, tests and treatments)

  • Videos and Tools (discover tutorials, health and surgery videos, games and health-related quizzes)

Healthline Symptom Checker This site is especially helpful if you have a symptom that is bothering you and do not know what may be causing the symptom or group of symptoms. At the end of the listed causes, there is a section called, “When to See A Doctor” about the problem. Sometimes a symptom may be the result of a potentially life-threatening illness. In this case, a red lettered warning will instruct you to call 911 or go to the Emergency Room.

Family Doctor This helpful site has an Interactive Symptom Checker. When the probable cause may be serious and/or require immediate attention, you will be directed to see a doctor in the emergency room or go to urgent care.

WebMD Identify possible conditions and treatment related to your symptoms.
Harvard Medical School  Free health-related information. Mayo Clinic Symptom Checker.
Cleveland Clinic Important information you need to know before seeing your Cleveland Clinic doctor, as well as other services and programs offered.
